What is a Ribbon Flower?
The ribbon flower is a tropical plant, also known as the spider plant. The homeland of this plant, which belongs to the Agavaceae family, is Africa and Asia. There are about 220 species. Almost everyone has a Ribbon flower in their home. It is preferred because it can easily adapt to the conditions of the region and because of its ease of maintenance. The most well-known species of ornamental plants are Chlorophytum comosum and Chlorophytum capense. It grows both indoors and outdoors in temperate climates. But it is preferred at home. Because it has the ability to clean the air.

Ribbons are easy to maintain and can survive by tolerating imperfect conditions. They will grow healthy and fast when well-drained soil, bright and indirect light conditions are provided. They like to be watered regularly, especially during the growth period, namely in spring and summer. However, excessive watering should be avoided or root rot may occur. Let’s take a look at the environmental conditions necessary for its maintenance.
HEAT
Average room temperatures are between 15°C – 24°C. They cannot survive at temperatures below 7°C.
Ribbon Light Request: A very bright room without direct sunlight should be preferred. Direct sunlight can burn leaves.

WATER
They like plenty of water during the spring and summer months, so they should be watered regularly. However, Ribbon Flower likes slightly moist but not wet soils. Overwatering can cause root rot and ultimately kill the plant. These plants are sensitive to fluoride and chlorine in the water, which can turn leaf tips brown. In winter, the frequency of irrigation should be reduced.

MOISTURE
Since too much hot weather will adversely affect the leaves of the Ribbon Flower, it will be beneficial for the plant to spray water on its leaves, especially in summer.

SOIL
It is sufficient to use a well-drained aerated potting soil to avoid overwatering the roots. They prefer a fairly neutral soil pH, but can tolerate slightly acidic to slightly alkaline soil. A high amount of salt in the soil can cause leaf tips to turn brown.

NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT
In spring and summer, diluted liquid fertilizer should be used once in 10 days. Too much fertilizer can cause brown leaf tips, while too little fertilizer will cause poor growth. During the growing season, you can use liquid nutrient following label directions. You can adjust the amount depending on the growth of your plant.

BOTTLE CHANGE
When the roots of the Ribbon Flower emerge from the drainage holes, repotting is required. The best time for repotting Ribbon Flowers is spring. It should be planted at the most one number larger than the flower pot that you want to change.
