Sliding Doors for Easy Access
Sometimes you don’t need a traditional door. You don’t have room for one to swing out. You may not even have the right size frame for a single door either. There are a lot of places in a house where you would love nothing more than to have a door, but it just doesn’t seem like a practical idea. However, there are other alternatives that can look just as stylish and be perfectly functional for your needs.

Sliding doors have been around for a long time and have become the favorite choice when it comes to places such as closets or smaller areas that require doors but don’t have the proper room for typical swinging doors. Doors that slide can either slide behind each other or they can slide into the wall depending upon what you need for your house and/or how your home is built. Doors that actually slide into wall frame openings are sometimes called bi-pass doors or pocket doors.

It may come as a surprise to hear that many doors can be crafted as sliding doors. This means that even if you see a door you like and it is not a sliding door, you can request the style be made into a sliding door by the manufacturer. Doors have the ability to slide from the tracks that are installed into the frame. Small rolling hardware pieces are installed into the door and then hung into the track. From there, doors will slide back and forth as you need them to. You can install handles on the doors or simply have a notch carved into it to act as a grip for sliding back and forth. Most people will prefer a dummy handle or knob.

You can customize your sliding door in any fashion you like. You choose the wood you want, from oak to pine, as well as the hardware. Often both doors will have the ability to slide so you can access both sides of the closet or room area. If you just need an option that opens to a room and you prefer a sliding door, you can have it built so that only one side slides open. Most doors for interior use don’t include glass in the same way that most interior doors don’t. This is especially true for areas like closets where glass is not necessary. But you can choose the style of the overall door, as well as the number and shape of any panels. Simply tell the manufacturer what you are looking for.
